Mentorship
The baller mentorship is a relationship of passing experience, knowledge and connections on to younger, less experienced players. The mentorship can drive personal growth, prompting the development of the interpersonal skills that are required in the game of basketball.
A Baller Force Academy mentor shares knowledge and understanding that may be missed under club and school coaching. The mentorship is a rich exchange of knowledge, establishing a strong foundation. Blocks of understanding are added, applying the knowledge to the game. A fortress of mental skills is the end result, for leveraging success in the game of basketball.
Skills Improvement
Every ball player works on improving his skills, hoping it will lead to success. They “hope” because they’ve never been down this road before. With little past experience to fall back on, their plan can feel like guesswork. There is nothing wrong with guesswork. Guessing, experimenting and tinkering are the logical avenues of exploring and figuring out what works best.
In the unknowns of what works best, players focus solely on their own game. “What ball handling drill should I work on?” “How many jump shots should I shoot today?” As valid and as important as those considerations are, have you ever stopped and asked yourself, “Is there a better way?”
With a Baller Force Academy mentorship you can improve your skills in a better way. Discover methods of practice that reduce the focus on your own skills by introducing the team aspect with a focus on helping your teammates improve their skills. The dynamic of seeing your own skills improve while focusing on others will revolutionize the way you practice.
Spatial Positioning
The location of your body in space while on the court, where you are, as well as when and how you move, will either enhance or diminish the success of any one play. The same is true with a defensive stand, an inbounds play, a jump ball or any other action that transpires between the lines.
Do you know the techniques of learning how to move? There are powerful techniques you can employ to improve your spatial positioning on the court that may never cross your mind when you are caught up in the compulsive tendency of improving your own game.
Concentration is a good thing, but our laser focused concentration on ourselves causes us to lose the natural function of moving fluidly in tandem with others. Learning to move naturally with others can be gained with a simple act; studying how your teammates move.
You can learn superb spatial positioning on the court by watching others move! At Baller Force Academy you can learn the how, where, when and what to watch for. You will be amazed when the light goes off in your head and you see the optimal flow and movement of the game.
Offensive NextThreat™ Fire Power
Attack defenses with NextThreat™ offense; a quick strike offensive theory that links team awareness and individual threat-ready movement. It is offensive execution with the mentality that the next pass is always a potential assist. When the entire team runs through every offensive set with this overriding awareness, good shot opportunities occur more frequently. The rapid-fire shot positioning at every pass of the ball puts defenses on their heels because they are exposed to each offensive player reading and reacting to floor space to be the potential, next threat in a continuous air raid assault.
Clear The Air For Team Unity
Are you a better baller than one or more of your teammates? Chances are, you probably are. Did you know, if you think you are better than they are, that thought alone can have a detrimental effect on their progression in improving their game?
Sport is about competing. A part of competing is winning. Everyone wants to win. In the heat of competition players establish a pecking order with the players on their team. The honorable goal is to compete together to defeat other teams, but come game time there are only five spots on the floor so teammates compete against each other for the lion’s share of playing time in those five spots.
Competition between teammates can be positive and healthy, but our penchant for focusing on our own survival opens the door to a competition that hinders our ability to work together. Nonproductive competition is tied to perceptions we have in our mind and emotions about our teammates; perceptions that often times are misconceptions which give rise to divisive pride and grudges. The team still competes, but less optimally.
At Baller Force Academy, you will learn how to communicate openly and honestly with your teammates and coaches in ways that can clear the air and get everyone on the same page. The pecking order becomes a non-issue and the pride that divides can be replaced with the pride that unites!
