The Walls That Protect Us, God’s Kingdom, Are God, Himself!

Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne!

God has made us a kingdom. The kingdom; you, me, and the millions of others who trust in Jesus Christ. We are a kingdom, God’s kingdom.

No kingdom stands without walls. This we know. It is most obvious. However, as we will see, salvation is central to the walls of God’s kingdom. As we venture forth in unveiling this truth, keep in mind, salvation belongs to our God!

Way back in time, when God first called out to men to choose for Himself a nation, He spoke to Abraham. By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going. He went to and lived in the land God promised while living like a foreigner in that land. Abraham was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.

He didn’t know where he was going, but Abraham trusted God to lead him to the land because he realized God was the builder of the foundations of the city. Every builder who erects buildings in a city with walls, places foundations beneath those walls. They are the strong support to anchor those walls to the earth. Cities make up dwelling places within and across a kingdom. If we are a kingdom, what about the walls of our kingdom? It seems strange to think of us, disciples of Jesus Christ, as having walls. After all, we are bodies with arms and legs. How are we walls of a kingdom?

Remember, Jesus told His disciples that they are in this world, but they are not of this world. That means, though we live here, with our arms and our legs, we are somehow separate from this world.

Jesus told Peter He would build His church. That means Jesus is a builder of the kingdom. We are a kingdom and Jesus is building us.

You will call your walls salvation

Looking way back in time, again, we see God spoke to the Israelites in Judah. What He said to them, at that time, reveals a truth to us about the kingdom we are, today. God, through the prophet Isaiah, told them that peoples from other lands would help them build their walls. These foreign people would be bringing them the best trees for wood, from far off, distant lands. God, Himself, also told them that He, Himself, would bring gold, silver, bronze and iron. To top it all off, He told them that after their walls were built, there would be no more destruction within their borders. Just as God was sure to protect the Israelites from destruction within their borders; so He is sure to protect you and I from destruction, within the walls of the kingdom that He has made us.

What God said next is key in helping us understand how God protects us from destruction. He said, “You will call your walls salvation.”

When you stop and reflect on that statement, it is quite amazing! They would call their walls salvation.

Looking back in the time, once again, we see that God spoke to the Israelites in Judah and He told them that one day they would say, “Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation.”

Behold, God is my salvation
I will trust and not be afraid
For the Lord God is my strength and song
And He has become my salvation

Walls protect a city. Salvation protects us. Because we believe in Jesus Christ, we obtain as the outcome of our faith, the salvation of our souls.

We are God’s kingdom. We are protected by walls. Our walls are called salvation. God is our salvation. The walls that protect us from destruction are God Himself.

Salvation belongs to our God!

The Lord has bared His holy arm
In the sight of all the nations,
So that all the ends of the earth may see
The salvation of our God

Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne!
